OUR FACILITY

Anew Dimension is located near the University of Minnesota, Augsburg College and downtown Minneapolis, situated near several main bus routes, the light rail train, designated bike lanes, and freeway access.

Safety is a priority.  All visitors to the site are monitored by front desk personnel.  Everyone enters our facility via a heated glass vestibule that ensures each visitor is identified before being permitted into the building.

There are a total of seven classrooms at Anew; one Infant, two Toddler, three Preschool, and one School-age.  In addition to the classrooms, we have a space for laundry, a kitchen for meal preparation and food storage, two outdoor playgrounds, an indoor playground, conference area, staff lounge, workroom, lobby and offices for the administrative staff.  We also have our unique and innovative theater space for Imagination Theatre. Space for children to play and explore both indoors and outdoors is abundant.

The atmosphere of Anew Dimension is warm and inviting, very child centered.  The classrooms are visually interesting, boasting a variety of colorful images of people from diverse genders, ages, social, and ethnic backgrounds.  Examples of children’s artwork can be found in every classroom and in the hallways, hung appropriately for child-viewing.  Large windows in every room provide sunlight and views of the outdoors.  In each classroom the schedules, rules, menus, and parent information are posted.  Classrooms are organized into developmentally appropriate interest areas, planned to encourage interaction, and successful play experiences.  A variety of materials are stored on child-level open shelves, labeled with words and pictures. The classroom materials are selected by teachers to support the curriculum, individual child outcomes, and program goals.

Our two outdoor playground areas are designed to be exciting and safe places for children.  One is used by toddler classes, the other by preschool classes.  Weather permitting, all children play outdoors.  Available on the playground are multiple areas for running, climbing, sliding, etc.  There is a track used for tricycle bikes, areas for parachute play, sand table play and a stationary rocking motorbike, airplane and a dinosaur.  The indoor playground can be used when the weather does not permit outdoor play.  A variety of motor activities are available including; bike track, caterpillar tunnel, balance beams, tumbling mats, blocks, ribbon streamers, scarves, bubbles and other movement games.

Anew Dimension also has two designated garden areas.  One is located in the front of the building, the other in the rear playground, both of which display an abundance of flowers and vegetation.  The rear garden also features a winding mulch pathway, a bridge and vegetable gardens cultivated by teachers and children.  These are places for staff, children and parents to enjoy, and a place for children to observe and learn in an ever-changing and interesting natural world.
